What features does Subi have? A tour of what Subi can do

A short tour of what Subi can do for your store, area by area, with a link to the full guide for each feature.

Subi lets you sell subscriptions on your Shopify store and run them from the first checkout to every renewal. Each section below says what you can do and links to the full guides.

Subscription plans you can sell

In Plans, click Create plan and choose Subscribe & Save, Build a box, Mystery box, Fixed bundle, Membership or Volume discount. A plan can charge per delivery or be prepaid for several deliveries. It can also bill on a set day, or end after a set number of payments for rentals and installments.

Managing subscriptions

On the Contracts page you reschedule, skip, pause or cancel a subscription and change a price or quantity for one subscriber. You can also create a subscription for a customer yourself, and export your data as CSV files from Settings > Data export. On the Subi and Subi Plus plans, or with an add-on, Bulk actions change many subscriptions at once and Tag management tags subscribers and their orders for you.

Payment recovery

Smart payment recovery retries a failed renewal when the decline is temporary and emails the customer a link to update their card, or one click to switch to another card they have saved. Find it under Retention > Payment recovery. Every plan gets the Short recovery window. The Subi and Subi Plus plans, or the Smart payment retries add-on, add longer ones.

Keeping subscribers

Under Retention, Subi's default cancellation flow asks why a subscriber is leaving and offers a skip or a new delivery date where your portal settings allow. On the Subi and Subi Plus plans, or with the Cancellation Flow add-on, you can build your own flow with offers such as a discount. Win-back campaigns email cancelled customers an offer to come back, on the Subi and Subi Plus plans or with the Winback add-on. Also on the Subi and Subi Plus plans, Automatic product swap replaces products in subscriptions by rules you set, and you can cap how often a customer skips an order. The Loyalty program gives customers points, including for referring a friend, and Subscription Streaks rewards a run of paid orders; each comes with the Subi and Subi Plus plans, or as its own add-on (Loyalty points program, Streaks).

Growing subscriptions and order value

Under Growth, the Cart drawer lets customers switch a one-time item to a subscription before checkout. On the Subi and Subi Plus plans, or with the Quick checkout link add-on, Quick checkout links take customers straight to checkout. On Subi Plus, or with the Upsell Management add-on, Upsell rules offer your subscribers extra products in their reminder emails and portal.

Customer portal and storefront widget

In the customer portal, subscribers can skip, pause, cancel and update their card. On the Subi and Subi Plus plans, or with the Portal permissions add-on, you choose what else they can do, such as swapping products or changing how often orders come. Every store gets the Subi-hosted portal. On the Subi and Subi Plus plans, or with the Embedded customer portal add-on, you can also offer the portal in Shopify's new customer accounts, or both. Under Storefront & Portal you style the subscription widget on your product pages and translate it and the portal into your store's languages.

Notifications

Subi emails subscribers at each step, such as when a subscription starts or a payment fails, and emails you too. In Settings > Notifications you turn each email on or off, preview it, send a test and edit it.

Analytics

Analytics compares your subscription business with the period before, on the Overview, Revenue, Subscribers and Contracts tabs, and the Upcoming tab forecasts what scheduled orders will bring in.

Integrations

Subi works with Shopify Flow, and on any paid plan with Zapier through the Subi API. Klaviyo, and Mailchimp through Subi's automatic tags, come with the Subi and Subi Plus plans or as add-ons. Every current paid plan includes the Subi API and webhooks.

Subi AI and MCP

Subio, the Subi AI assistant behind the Ask Subi button, answers questions about your subscriptions and prepares changes that run only after you approve them. The first time you open it, it asks you to accept how it uses your store's data. Where Shopify Sidekick with Subi is enabled for your store, Sidekick can find subscriptions and propose a pause, resume or skip that you approve in Subi. On Subi Plus, or with the API, webhook & MCP access add-on, you can connect an AI client such as Claude or ChatGPT through MCP.

Migrating to Subi

Moving from another subscription app? Subi looks for your existing subscribers when you install it, and you can ask for migration help from Settings > Migration. With fewer than 50 subscriptions, you can also create them yourself on the Contracts page.

What your store can use depends on its Subi plan and its add-ons. Any feature this page names with an add-on can be bought on any paid plan, from Subi billing. The plans named on this page are today's plans: a store on an older plan, even one also called Subi, may include less or more. See Is there a free plan, and what are its limits? for the plans.

For anything this page does not cover, message us from the chat in your Subi admin and we will help.
