How do I translate my subscription widget into my store's languages?

Turn on Subi widget translation from your Home page or the Languages tab so shoppers see the widget in their language.

If your store sells in more than one language, shoppers on your translated pages may still see the Subi subscription widget in English. Subi can translate the widget into every language your store publishes in Shopify, so the subscription options read naturally on every page.

How does Subi translate the subscription widget?

When you turn on widget translation, Subi detects the languages your store publishes in Shopify and automatically translates the widget's text into each one. Shoppers then see the widget in the language of the page they are on. Detection runs in the background after you turn it on.

Turn on widget translation from your Subi Home page

If your store publishes at least one language besides your main one and widget translation is still off, your Subi Home page can show a card offering it. The card names your store's languages, for example Translate your widget into German and French.

  1. Open Home in your Subi admin.

  2. On the translation card, click Turn on translation.

  3. The card turns green and shows Translation is on. Click Review wording to check the automatic translation of your first new language, or Close to hide the card.

Want to see it first? Click Watch how · 0:30 on the card to play a 30-second video. You can turn on translation from the video too, or click Watch later to close it.

Turn on widget translation from the Languages tab

You can also turn it on where you manage widget languages: open Widget customization, go to the Languages tab, and click Activate widget translation. The result is the same as turning it on from Home.

Why don't I see the translation card on my Home page?

The card appears only for stores that can turn translation on right away, so not every store sees it. You won't see it if, for example:

  • Your store publishes only one language in Shopify. Add and publish another language in Shopify first.

  • Widget translation is already on for your store.

  • Your store has reached your Subi plan's subscription or revenue limit, or your Subi account is restricted. If you're not sure why, contact our support team from the chat.

  • Your Home page still shows the setup steps for new stores. The card appears once setup is done.

  • You closed the card. It stays hidden for 30 days, and you can still turn on translation from the Languages tab at any time.

What if turning on translation fails?

If something goes wrong, Subi shows the message We couldn't activate widget translation. Try again in a moment. The card stays on your Home page so you can click Turn on translation again. If it keeps failing, contact our support team from the chat.

Using a translation app instead?

If you already translate your store with a third-party translation app, see Translate Subscription Widget with Translation Apps.
