How to Enable Email Notifications in Subi

Learn how to enable various email notifications for both merchants and subscribers in Subi.

Updated this week

Overview

In Subi, you can activate various email notifications for both merchants and customers regarding their subscriptions and memberships. These notifications keep you and your customers informed about the status of their subscriptions.

To manage all Subi notifications, navigate to Subi app > Settings > Notifications

Subscription Notification Emails

Subi can send automatic emails when customers activate subscriptions or memberships. These emails notify both the merchant and the subscriber about the new subscription.

Customer Notifications

Merchants can select and customize the sender email for the notifications that are sent to customers. You can also add a custom email domain to send emails from that domain.

The available customer notifications are:

  • Subscription Activated: An email is sent to a customer when the subscription starts.

  • Subscription Payment Failed: An email is sent when a subscription faces an error in payment or the payment fails.

  • Subscription Cancelled: An email is sent when the subscription is cancelled.

  • Subscription Resumed: An email is sent when the subscription is resumed.

  • Subscription Paused: An email is sent when the subscription is paused.

  • Subscription Expired: An email is sent when the subscription expires.

  • Subscription Skipped: An email is sent when the subscription is skipped.

  • Billing Reminder Email: Automatically sent to remind the customer about upcoming payments or billing cycles.

Merchant Notifications

When the "Customer’s subscription activated" notification is enabled, merchants will receive an email every time a customer subscribes to a product in the store.

Other available merchant notifications include:

  • Customer’s Payment Failed: Receive an email notification if there is an issue with a subscription payment.

  • Customer’s Subscription Cancelled: Get notified when a customer cancels a subscription.

  • Customer’s Subscription Resumed: Receive an email when a customer resumes their subscription.

  • Customer’s Subscription Paused: You’ll be notified when a customer pauses their subscription.

  • Customer’s Subscription Expired: Get notified when a subscription expires.

  • Customer’s Subscription Skipped: Receive an email when a customer skips a subscription.

Additionally, you can opt to be BCC'd on customer email notifications, so you’ll be copied in on every email sent to the customer.

Portal Notifications

In the Portal Notification section, merchants can activate the OTP Email, which sends a One-Time Password to customers. This allows customers to securely enter a code on the portal for authentication.

Preview, Send Test Email, and Edit Code

For each notification in the Customer, Merchant, and Portal Notifications sections, you can preview the email, send a test email, and edit the code (subject and HTML body) by clicking the three-dot menu next to the notification setting. This feature allows you to customize the emails to fit your specific needs and ensure they display as expected.

Advanced Email Marketing

Subi is compatible with Shopify marketing tools, making it easy for merchants to automate their email campaigns using Subi triggers. You can set up and manage email series directly from Shopify’s marketing automation platform.

  • Shopify Marketing Automation: You can access the Shopify marketing automation templates and use them to create customized email series that are triggered based on customer actions.
