As a customer, this is what the experience of buying a subscription product looks like:
The customer navigates to the product page of your subscription product. Alternatively, you can create a custom landing page using the Page Builder apps and then add the subscription widget to that page. From the purchase option, they choose “Subscription,” select their preferred delivery frequency, and add the product to their cart.
Once customers have finished exploring your store and are ready to place their order, they can see that the product has recurring payments on the checkout page. They can then check the frequency of these payments.
After placing the order, the customer will receive a confirmation email and a link to the portal. From there, they can log in and check and manage their subscription. There's a link in the 'thank-you' page as well for accessing their subscriptions in the customer account.

After each successful payment, an order is created in your Shopify store, and the customer gets another email that allows them to find out the following information as well:
