How do I open Subio from any page in the Subi admin?

Where the Subi AI button sits on every Subi page, what the first-time consent screen means, and where to ask on the home page.

If you have noticed a small sparkle button at the top of every Subi page and wondered what it does: that is the Subio button, and it opens the Subio panel from wherever you are in Subi. This article explains where to find the button, what happens the first time you open it, and which pages use their own ask bar instead.

Where is the Subio button?

On every Subi page that has a page header — for example Plans, Subscriptions, Growth, Retention, Storefront and the Settings sub-pages such as API keys, Webhooks, Export data and Migration — the Subio button sits in the top-right action group, to the right of the page's main button. On the Plans page it is the sparkle button immediately to the right of Create plan. On a page that has no other buttons it sits in that same spot on its own. Screen readers announce it as Ask Subio.

What happens when I click it?

Clicking the button opens the Subio panel — titled Subio, with AI assistant underneath — on top of the page you were on, so you do not lose your place. The first time you open it, the panel shows a Before you start card that reads: "Subio sends your question, and the store data needed to answer it, to our AI provider. Nothing leaves your store until you accept." Click Accept and continue to start using it; until you do, nothing is sent anywhere.

After that, type your question in the message box at the bottom of the panel (it reads "Ask about subscriptions, rules, or insights…") and click Send. The panel's welcome message and suggested prompts show the kinds of questions you can ask. To put the panel away, press Esc or click the close button, labelled Close Subio, and you are back on the page exactly where you were.

Does it remember what I was asking?

Yes. Opening Subio from a page header picks up your last conversation where you left it, under a line that tells you when it last ran — for example Continuing your conversation from earlier today. That also survives a page refresh, so you can leave Subio, go and change something in Subi, come back, and carry on the same thread.

When you want a clean start instead, use the New conversation button in the panel header, or ask something from the home page ask bar — both begin a fresh conversation. Your earlier conversations are still there under the conversations button in the panel header.

Where do Subio's answers come from?

When you ask how something in Subi works, Subio looks it up in these help center articles and shows you which article it used, as a link under its answer. If no article covers your question, it says so and offers to open a support conversation rather than guessing.

Which pages don't have the button?

The Subi home page does not show the header button. Instead it has its own ask bar at the top of the page — "Ask about your subscribers, revenue, or strategy…" — and sending a question from there opens the same Subio panel. Two Settings pages, Notifications and Language, do not show the button yet either; open any other Settings page, such as API keys, to use Subio from Settings.

Is this the same as the Subio chat in the setup wizard?

It is the same assistant, in a conversation of its own. When you first install Subi, the Pick a subscription model step of the setup wizard has its own Subio conversation, which recommends a subscription model for your store and answers questions about the models before you build your first plan — see Setup your first subscription plan in Subi. That conversation belongs to the setup step and does not carry over; the button described here is for everything after setup.

I don't see the button at all

The button appears once Subi has finished loading your store's settings, so give the page a moment or refresh it. If it is still not there on a page like Plans, message our support team from inside Subi and we will check your store.
