How do I use the Subi home page, and what do the plan statuses mean?

Learn what each section of your Subi home page does, how the setup guide works, and what Active, Inactive and Action required mean.

Your Subi home page is the first screen you see when you open Subi from your Shopify admin. It gives you a running picture of your subscription setup: what is still to do, how each subscription type is configured, and where to go next. This article walks through each section and explains what the statuses mean.

Your setup guide

If you are still setting Subi up, a guide called Your path to your first subscriber appears at the top of the page. It shows one task at a time, along with a counter telling you how many of the steps you have finished.

The guide tracks three things: turning on the Subi app embed in your theme, creating your first subscription plan, and customizing the subscription widget to match your store. You do not need to tick anything off by hand. Each step marks itself complete as soon as you have done it, so the guide always reflects your real setup.

Once all three steps are done, the guide disappears on its own. You can also close it at any time using the X in its top right corner, whether or not you have finished every step.

Your subscription types at a glance

Below the setup guide you will find your performance metrics, your app status, and then a card for each subscription type Subi offers: Subscribe & Save, Build a box, Membership, Fixed Bundle, Volume Discount and Mystery Box.

Six subscription type cards showing Active, Action required and Inactive statuses

Each card tells you three things: whether you are using that subscription type, whether its storefront setup is complete, and what the most useful next step is. The button on each card changes to match, so you are always one click from the right place.

What each status means

The coloured label on each card describes the state of that subscription type:

  • Active — you have at least one plan of this type and its storefront setup is complete. Nothing needs your attention.

  • Action required — you have a plan of this type, but a block it needs is missing from your theme, so it may not appear correctly to shoppers. The card's button becomes Add block so you can fix it straight away.

  • Inactive — you have not created a plan of this type yet. The card's button becomes Create if you would like to start one.

One card may also carry a Recommended star. This marks the subscription type Subi suggested for your store based on the answers you gave when you first set the app up.

What the app block labels mean

Next to the status you will see how many app blocks that subscription type uses. Selecting the question mark beside it opens a summary of each block and how it is currently set up:

  • Via app embed — the app embed shows this widget on your product page, so no block is needed. To show the widget on other pages, or to change where it appears on the product page, add the block in your theme editor.

  • Added — you have placed this block in your theme yourself.

  • Not added — this block is not in your theme yet. If the subscription type genuinely needs it, the card shows Action required.

The difference between Via app embed and Added matters when you are troubleshooting. A widget marked Via app embed is being shown by the app embed rather than by a block you placed, so turning the app embed off in your theme will remove it.

Creating a new subscription plan

Selecting Create on any card, or Create plan from the Subscription plans page, opens the plan type picker. It shows the same six subscription types with an illustration of how each one appears to your shoppers, along with the same status and app block information as the home page.

Next steps

If a card shows Action required, start there — it means shoppers may not be seeing that subscription option correctly. If you are still getting set up, follow the setup guide from the top of the page.

You can also select Book a call in the top right of the home page to arrange time with the Subi team. If anything on the page does not match what you expect, contact our support team and we will take a look with you.
