How do I set up an store credit perk for membership tiers?

With Subi’s Store Credit perk, you can reward your members with a specific amount of credit added to their customer account every billing cycle.

How It Works

Store Credit is a built-in perk within Subi's Membership plans. When a member subscribes to a tier with this perk enabled, Subi automatically issues the designated amount of credit to their Shopify customer profile.

  • Frequency: Credit is issued at the start of every billing period (e.g., every month).

  • Multi-Tier Support: You can define different credit amounts for different membership tiers (e.g., Bronze gets $10, Gold gets $25).

  • Expiration: You can set the credit to never expire or set a specific expiration window (e.g., 30 days) to encourage frequent shopping.


Step 1: Access Your Membership Plan

  1. Navigate to the Plans section in your Subi dashboard.

  2. Click on an existing Membership plan to edit it, or click Create Plan and select Membership to start a new one.

Step 2: Configure the Store Credit Perk

  1. Scroll down to the Perks of Members section.

  2. Find the Store Credit perk and click Configure.

  3. A modal will appear showing your membership tiers (e.g., Silver, Bronze, Gold).

Step 3: Define Perk Details per Tier

For each tier you wish to reward, toggle the switch to ON and fill in the following:

  • Monthly Credit Amount: Enter the monetary value (e.g., 20.00) you want to award.

Note: If your plan has longer billing intervals (like a 3-month prepay), this amount is multiplied accordingly.

  • Expiration Window: Choose how long the credit remains valid:

    • None: The credit never expires.

    • Fixed Days (30, 60, 90): The credit disappears if not used within the selected timeframe.

    • Custom: Enter a specific number of days from the date of issuance.

Click Apply once you have configured the tiers.

Step 4: Finalize and Save

After configuring the perk, make sure to click Save at the top or bottom of your main membership plan page to push the changes live.


Important Notes & Tips

  • Prorated Rewards: If a customer cancels mid-cycle but has already paid for a pre-paid period (e.g., a 3-month plan), they will continue to receive their monthly credit until the end of that paid period.

  • Customer Visibility: Merchants can view and manage a customer's total store credit balance directly in the Shopify Admin > Customers section. Under the customer's profile, a "Store Credit" section will show their current balance and history.
