Managing shipping settings for your subscription products can be challenging, especially since small changes to your shipping profiles may cause shipping options to disappear at checkout. This guide addresses the most common reasons why shipping may not be available for subscription products and walks you through step-by-step solutions.
Shipping is Not Available When Using Subi Free Shipping or a Custom Shipping Profile
If you have selected either Subi Free Shipping or a custom shipping profile for your subscription plans and shipping is not available at checkout, follow these steps to identify and resolve the issue.
How to Review Your Shipping Profiles
When one or more subscription plans are connected to a shipping profile—such as a custom profile or Subi Free Shipping—the details of that shipping profile can only be viewed or managed in Shopify’s Shipping and Delivery settings after the subscription plans are temporarily disconnected.
To review and manage your Subi shipping profiles, follow these steps:
In your Subi Panel, go to Settings > Shipping.
Disconnect your subscription plans from the shipping profiles (either Free Shipping or Custom Shipping Profiles).
Next, in your Shopify Admin Panel:
You can now review all shipping profiles created by Subi for your subscription products.
Possible Issues and Fixes
1. Check for Products Added Directly to the Profile
If a product is directly assigned to the shipping profile, it may override Subi's shipping settings.
Products should not be manually added to Subi’s shipping profiles. Once a subscription plan is included in a shipping profile via Subi, all products in that plan will automatically use the selected profile.
2. Review Shipping Rates in the Profile
If you’re offering free shipping, ensure a Free Rate is actually defined.
Go to your “Free shipping for Subi subscriptions” profile and confirm that the rate is properly set up.
3. Verify Product Fulfillment Location
Review the fulfillment locations assigned within your shipping profile.
Make sure your subscription product’s fulfillment location has shipping rates assigned.
You can also check product locations in the Inventory section of your Shopify products.
If any of these settings are missing or incorrect, updating them should resolve most shipping availability issues.
Shipping Not Available When Subi Subscription Shipping Profile Is Not Enabled
If you are using Shopify’s general or custom shipping profiles (instead of Subi’s subscription shipping settings), here are the steps you should follow to identify and fix shipping problems.
Possible Issues and Fixes
1. Check for Gaps in Shipping Rates
If you use price-based or weight-based rates, make sure there are no gaps in your shipping rate tiers.
Update your shipping rates so all possible order scenarios are covered.
2. Review Third-Party Shipping or Delivery Apps
Some shipping or delivery apps can override Shopify’s default settings and interfere with Subi’s profiles.
Temporarily disable any shipping-related third-party apps and check if shipping becomes available.
3. Verify If a Specific Product Is Causing the Issue
If shipping is only failing for certain products, check whether their assigned fulfillment location has shipping rates defined.
Review the fulfillment locations in your shipping profile to ensure all relevant products have rates set up.
Confirm product locations in the Inventory section of Shopify admin.
