Overview
If you want subscriptions to stop automatically after a specific number of successful payments, you can add an expiration period to your selling plans. This ensures your customers are only billed for the intended number of payments, and subscriptions are paused or ended at the right time.
Why use automatic subscription expiration?
Automatic expiration is especially useful for:
Installment payments: End the subscription after the final installment is paid, preventing extra charges.
Rental programs: Expire subscriptions automatically when the rental period ends or the debt is paid.
This feature provides peace of mind for both merchants and subscribers, ensuring clear terms and preventing unintended billing.
How do I set up automatic expiration for subscriptions?
You can add an expiration to your selling plans directly in the Subi panel:
Go to the Subscription Plans tab.
Create a new subscription plan or select an existing one.
Click Add/Edit Selling Plan.
Set your preferred frequency and interval.
Enable Automatic expiration.
In the Subscription ends field, enter the number of successful payments after which the subscription should expire.
Click Done, then Save your changes.
Example: Setting up a 3-payment subscription
If you set the Subscription ends option to After 3 successful payments, Subi will automatically charge your customer for three successful payments, then expire the subscription.
If one of these payments is skipped or fails, it will not count toward the total.
Note: Editing a subscription plan will not change existing subscription contracts. Expiration settings only apply to new subscriptions created after the update.
How can I communicate subscription expiration to my customers?
It's important to let your customers know if their subscription will end automatically after a certain number of payments. You can:
Add details in your product description.
Update your subscription FAQ.
Include information on the product page or your subscription landing page.
Clear communication helps set the right expectations and improves customer experience.
