How do I create a "Subscribe and Save" subscription plan with Subi?

With Subi, you can offer "Subscribe and Save" subscription plans so your customers can sign up for recurring purchases at the frequency you choose. This article explains how to create, edit, and delete subscription plans, as well as how to add products and customize your plan settings.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure the Subi app is installed and set up in your Shopify store.

  • Enable the Subi App Embed to display subscription options on your storefront.


Steps to Create a "Subscribe and Save" Subscription Plan

  1. Start a new plan

    • Go to the Plans section in your Subi dashboard.

    • Click Create plan.

    • In the modal, select Subscribe & Save.

  2. Customize your selling plan

    • Edit the default Monthly selling plan to adjust:

      • Billing frequency (e.g., monthly, weekly)

      • Discounts for subscribers

      • Prepayment options

      • Cancellation policies

      • Expiration rules

      • Billing days

      • Widget display settings

  3. Add additional selling frequencies

    • Click Add selling plan to offer multiple subscription intervals.

  4. Select products for your subscription

  5. Set purchase type

    • Choose your preferred purchase type (e.g., One-time, Recurring).

  6. Enable free shipping (optional)

    • Turn on Free Shipping to offer this benefit to subscribers.

  7. Create your plan

    • Click Save to save and activate your subscription plan.

  8. Install the subscription widget

    • Enable the Subi App Embed to display the subscription widget on your storefront.

    • Manually add the subscription widget to your product theme (if needed):
      If the subscription widget isn’t installed automatically, you can add it as a block in your product template.

  9. Finalize and test your Subscribe & Save plan

    • Review the subscription widget on your product page to ensure both the one-time and discounted subscription options are clearly displayed.

    • Test the purchase process by adding the product to your cart both as a one-time purchase and as a subscription to confirm everything works smoothly.

  11. Rename your plan (optional)

    • Give your plan a unique name for internal reference in your Subi dashboard. This name is not visible to customers.

  12. Deactivate a plan

    • To temporarily disable the subscription widget for products in this plan, simply deactivate the plan.
